France Project type: medium Ouest-France and Rossel

Summary

Building upon semantic analysis, 20 Minutes NewsMakers will recruit our potential contributors wherever they express themselves: on our website and social network pages. By offering tailored incentives, they’ll be encouraged to participate in conversation clusters, called "Newsrooms".

We will use artificial intelligence to organize the multi-format information gathered within the newsrooms, ranking contributions by criteria, automatically writing short content, and creating media libraries - a contributors’ directory - in our back office.

With NewsMakers, we’ll take user-generated content to another level, harnessing the editorial value of crowds and community experts.

The solution

Online conversations happen everywhere, taking place on social media or in forums, but media websites seem to be left out of that conversational space. On news websites, the "public" voice is missing. NewsMakers creates a participatory space that is also a fully-fledged media, in which everyone can be a contributor, alongside journalists. AI will help us to organize the multi-format information gathered within the newsrooms, ranking contributions by criteria, automatically writing short content, and creating media libraries in our back office. Newsrooms will be event specific or long term ones, and promoted across our social and digital platforms.
