Unifying Local Media (Round 5)

The main problem for Polish local media is fragmentation, which does not allow to compete with large publishing houses, especially on the advertising market. A common media platform will allow scattered local publishing companies to unify into one strong business entity. At the same time it will enable each publishing house to preserve its character and uniqueness.

Harmony (Round 5)

Advertising formats competing with subscription marketing campaigns are currently managed by separate systems and teams. Engaging users to read another article via recommendation mechanism is difficult due to the lack of available software in Polish text analysis. Harmony will increase engagement by implementing a scoring system that analyses users’ real time shopping potential, while providing recommendations of additional articles and ads to registered users.

AI Bots & Trolls Filter (Round 5)

In the current media landscape, publishers must face new phenomena that might jeopardize their relationships with readers and advertisers such as bots and trolls. These have a negative impact both on readers’ experience and advertiser’ campaigns efficiency. Our goal is to build a service enabling every publisher and social medium to identify sources of disinformation, trolling and bot traffic instantly. This technological advantage embedded into a commercial advertising model will secure any campaign from fraud.

Live Coverage & Community Engagement Project (Round 5)

Often local live events lack live coverage in the media. These events are ether to small or not advertised enough to get the attention of a national media. At the same time many journalists attempt to cover these events using their social media accounts or blogs for that purpose. These on the other hand lack the reach and power of a national portal. Our platform will enable local journalist to instantly access an audience of up to 20 million users while at the same time providing our viewers with interesting local content.

Interactive Documentary Composer (Round 5)

The Interactive Documentary Composer wants to establish interactive documentary as a new content type and create a custom-build management system for such documentaries. By launching a set of tools to create idocs the project will help storytellers overcome the tech and design limitations they face when working on stories that are rich in differing type of media. The coe will be open source and the tool will be free to use for anyone wanting to create their own idocs to greater improve the impact and amount of quality stories told in the form of interactive documentaries.

The team of popular opinion leaders and exemplary journalists generate valuable content for print (wSieci), TV (wPolsce.pl) and online (wPolityce.pl). The tech-savvy army of readers and viewers have expressed their desire to co-create the projects – the project will help them contribute in an innovative way by using interactive video chats through a mobile application. This direct contact between journalist and consumer makes media truly interactive. The application will use tools already available on mobile devices to allow instant video chatting with journalists during special, dedicated TV programmes.

SEARCH THE RADIO (Round 4)

The project is based on the key observation that valuable audio content is digitally inaccessible and difficult to search. The aim is to use existing automatic audio-to-text transcription technology in a smarter way – turning the most valuable Radio TOK audio content into fully searchable and accessible text for listeners and every internet user. The database grows daily by approximately 20 hours of unique talk audio content. By establishing a process of asynchronous transcription of newly produced audio content and additionally transcribing the most valuable pieces of the archives, a database of carefully indexed transcriptions with intelligent search ability will be produced.
