Summary

However, selecting relevant content and embedding it to news stories is a manual, labour-intensive, time-demanding task. News.vid.io will disrupt the news media landscape and will leverage monetisation for tomorrow’s media by delivering a service-based platform that empowers journalists in creating engaging news stories through targeted video mashups. These video summaries will present the key concepts and viewpoints for unfolding stories, based on automated annotation of content from professional videos and user-generated content.
The solution
News.vid.io aims to stimulate innovation in digital news journalism. The project utilises the capabilities of video analysis, annotation and summarisation technologies in a single platform that allows news and media organisations to create multiple versions of videos covering the same event. The goal is to help these organisations revitalise the interest of their news readers and capitalise on the increasing trend of mobile video consumption.
