Summary
To fill the gap in the field of explanatory journalism in Slovakia, to crack the most important current political, economic, social and scientific issues of these days, and to enrich readers with tools for critical thinking that is the goal of this project. By using animations, maps, written word and interview features, users could understand the background, importance and meaning of political actions and decisions, economical affects, social behavior and trends, history and everything that´s buzzing. Vot.sk would provide readers with a website and an application for smartphones and tablets.
The solution
The world spins fast and the news floods our everyday life and attention. But while there is unlimited access to global information, there is a lack of deeper background stories that put the news into perspective and unveil the complexity behind what we hear, see or read. The app and the website will focus on people already interested in world news but they will also try to catch the attention of the younger generation through an easy-to-understand format and increase people's interest to spend a minute on getting to know the actual meaning of the world's events.
