Denmark Project type: large Jysk Fynske Medier

Summary

Jysk Fynske Medier produces thousands of local stories and has thousands of auto-generated stories at their disposal each month. Many of these stories are highly relevant to a small group of people in a local community, but completely uninteresting for everyone else. That’s why it is crucial that to be able to identify and present the right content to the right audience – regardless of the platform. The key is clearly investing in development of new digital offerings and ways of engaging local communities to ensure their main vision; Striving for elevating local communities through sustainable journalism.

The solution

The project aims to increase the value of and revenue from (hyper-) local journalism by personalising content delivery and discovery across multiple platforms. The goal is to ensure the profitability of local journalism and thereby preserving its significant role in local democracies through innovation. Jysk Fynske Medier strives to leverage technology and big data in their attempt to sustain local journalism. The project is unique in the way it harnesses the advantages of different technologies (e.g. data analysis, automated journalism) and human assessment while working on a variety of current and possible future platforms.
