DataNews captures key data from the news to populate a convenient and comprehensive database for journalists.
The solution
As well as automatically retrieving key data from news articles, DataNews will also give context to the numbers, such as subject, what date the number relates to and whether the number is cumulative. DataNews using semantic specialists, machine learning computations and journalists to qualify information and structure the output. AFP (Agence France Presse) has volunteered to test the prototype, in which they’ll focus only on deaths in the news before moving to other units such as currency.
