Developing an Enhanced Interface and Experience on Web and e-reader platforms

The Challenge

Recognizing the need to adapt to the evolving digital landscape, Malayala Manorama, one of India's leading news publishers embarked on a comprehensive digital transformation project aimed at enhancing user experience and engagement across its platforms.

The project set out to address several key challenges:

1) Refining website's UI/UX to address issues such as article visibility and user engagement.

2) Improvements to the existing Content Management System (CMS) architecture to streamline content publishing and provide more flexibility in presenting articles on website pages.

3) Revamp the recommendation engine to offer personalized article suggestions, thereby enhancing content discoverability.

4) Incorporating features that were previously lacking in the e-reader experience, such as text-to-audio conversion, crop-and-share capability, article download and save options, and multiple viewing modes, impacting user engagement and experience.
