80% of misinformation involves photos or video
Recent research conducted by Google and several fact-checking organizations reviewed over 130,000+ fact checks dating back to 1995.
They found that 80% involved photos or videos. According to their study, video has become more common, making up nearly half (48%) of all misinformation claims in the last three years.
How Fact Check Tools work
When publishers write a fact check article, they can add schema.org/ClaimReview markup to that article. This markup is structured data that contains information about the fact check -- for example, what was the claim being assessed, who made the claim, what was the verdict, and more relevant information.
What is Fact Check Explorer?
Fact Check Explorer gives journalists and fact checkers a deeper way to learn about an image or topic.
Powered by ClaimReview markup, Fact Check Explorer lets users find fact checks which have been investigated by independent fact checkers from around the world.
Fact Check Explorer reviews publicly available and crawlable images, and returns fact check results published in ClaimReview schema that meet the eligibility guidelines for being displayed in Search or YouTube.
